AFerry.co.uk, the world's leading ferry website, has given a positive welcome to new ferry company MyFerryLink on the Dover - Calais short sea crossing route. The new company has risen from the ashes of the old SeaFrance organisation which was liquidated in January 2012. It means that there will be even greater competition on the most popular Dover-Calais route, which can only be good for consumers.
MyFerryLink operated freight only for the first two weeks of business, using two of the old SeaFrance ships - the Rodin and the Berlioz. Now, passenger services have begun with 16 crossings daily - this will add to the ten run currently by DFDS and 23 by P&O. At first there will be no foot passenger facility but this may well change in the future.
Kirsty Laifa, Head of Sales & Marketing at AFerry.co.uk, remarked: 'We are glad to have even more operator choice back on Dover-Calais. We are sure there are plenty of old SeaFrance customers who will be delighted to use the Rodin and the Berlioz once again, albeit under new company colours'.
All services are available to compare and book on AFerry.co.uk, recently voted for the second year running the World's Leading Ferry Website at the World Travel Awards 2012.
